President Defends Dean

In light of the recent comments by Chairman Dean, many G.O.P. leaders came to his defense, saying that he is really bringing in the donations to the RNC. An unnamed Senate Republican was quoted as saying, "the energy that Howard has brought to this party is really invigorating the base." Also the President reportedly stated that, "He's doing a fantastic job heading up the Republican Party." When it was pointed out that Howard Dean is Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, the President responded by saying, "well, he's still doing a great service to the Republican Party."
